Telašćica Bay is the largest and safest natural harbour, which was declared a Nature Park in 1988. It is known for the steep cliffs of Dugi otok, which are also called "rocks", and rise up to 161 meters above and descend 90 meters below the sea. Another specificity is the southwestern part of the Telašcica Nature Park, where Lake Mir is located, which has healing properties.
Lake Mir is connected to the sea by underground channels, and it is saltier than the surrounding sea as it is closed and a has a strong evaporation. The lake is shallow, so it is warmer in the summer and colder than the sea in the winter. On the shallow parts it is rocky, in the deep areas it is covered with wormwood, and on the south eastern part there is a healing sludge.
The splendour of the flora and fauna of Telašćica Nature Park offers unreal scenes. In Lake Mir Bay there is a shelter for abandoned donkeys, and vertical cliffs (rocks) on the outside of Telašćica bay offer a view of the dolphins. Famous “rocks” are the most prominent steep rocks in the Adriatic Sea and cause a feeling of awe. Due to the richness of flora and fauna, Telašica is also significant as an ornithological area. On the rocks nest the grey falcon Falco peregrinus and the falcon Falco eleonore, and under the sea can be found various and rare red corals.
The Kornati National Park extends to 216.78 km². With its 89 islands, this national park belongs to the most scattered island group of the Mediterranean. The beautiful archipelago is still shaped today under the influence of the bora wind, sun, man, and stingy vegetation. The combination of grey and crystal blue invites you to explore stone labyrinths, islets, hidden bays, rocks and living nature.
In the northwest of the national park is located the uninhabited islet Sestrica Vela, known for the lighthouse Tajer which was built in 1876. The cliffs of the islets, Obručan Mali and Obručan Veli attract attention with their impressive appearance. They rise more than 30 meters above sea level, and even migratory birds know the beauty of these steep cliffs, so they come there to rest.
In the southwest of the island of Levrnaka there is the only sandy beach on the Kornati archipelago - Lojena. Silver sand and pearly white pebbles attract many visitors. Along the beach there is a trail that leads to a hill with a beautiful view of the beach and the islands that are located nearby.
The price of organized excursions includes boat rental, fuel, and skipper, as well as entrance fees for the National Park and Nature Park.
