Have you ever swam, maybe even snorkeled around a 50 year old shipwreck? Whatever your answer is, the Michelle wreck is a real adventure for you just one hour away from Zadar!
In the immediate vicinity of Veli Rat, the northernmost place on Dugi Otok, at a depth of 6 meters, there is the shipwreck "Michelle".
Approximately one hour by boat from Zadar at a cruising speed of 23 mph, there is the wreck of the ship "Michelle", which ran aground in 1983, north of Veli Rat on Dugi Otok. Before it was a wreck, the ship "Michelle" was 76 meters long and 10 meters wide, and when it ran aground it was owned by an Italian company.

This wreck was initially above sea level and from a distance it appeared as if the ship was floating, but over time it sank more and more so that now practically the entire ship is below sea level except for the mast sticking out above sea level.

Time has taken its toll and exposure to the sea, salt and accelerated corrosion hastened the process of the aft cabins, that is, all the superstructure that was there, literally disintegrating and collapsing, so that now there is an almost flat surface as if nothing was there. The main mast has collapsed and is lying perpendicular to the wreck.
Swimming or diving around a wreck is almost harmless, but you should always be careful. As long as we don't crawl inside the wreck itself and jump on its surface, there is no real danger.
Visiting the wreck with Alpha boats Zadar and experienced skippers is an excellent choice for a superb experience.
